After the passage of 2 years of the post CPA period that ended the North-South Conflict, safety and security remain a challenge. Yet, there is inadequate assessment of the impact of safety and security including on the CPA. This baseline survey reveals that though the CPA has succeeded in some respects violence victimisation–orchestrated by small arms and light weapons–continue to exist. Download

The World Food Programme has been providing humanitarian food assistance to vulnerable communities and groups in Southern Sudan for over twenty years, but circumstances have changed following the signing of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) in January 2005. The Feinstein International Center undertook this review of programs in Southern Sudan in 2006 to help WFP Sudan make the needed changes to adapt to these new circumstances. Download
This report summarizes a two-day policy advisory group seminar on 20 and 21 April 2006 in Franschhoek, South Africa. The objective of this meeting was to assess the signing of the CPA. The seminar sought to devise policy recommendations on how South Sudan can use the opportunity of the signing of the CPA to promote peace. Download
As the one-year anniversary of the CPA approached, NDI and the SSCCSE undertook this research to better understand the response of ordinary men and women to the events they have witnessed over the past year.
